Shaft furnace pelletizing is an important method of iron ore agglomeration.
Process Flow
1.Raw material preparation: The main raw material is iron ore concentrate powder. Usually, a binder such as bentonite needs to be added to improve the strength of pellets. Various raw materials are proportioned and mixed according to a certain ratio to make them evenly distributed.
2.Pelletizing: The mixed raw materials enter the pelletizer. Through mechanical force and the action of appropriate moisture, spherical particles are gradually formed. During the pelletizing process, the size, strength, and moisture content of the pellets should be controlled.
3.Shaft furnace roasting:
①Distribution: The made pellets are evenly distributed on the furnace bed of the shaft furnace.
②Drying and preheating: After the pellets enter the shaft furnace from the top, they first pass through the drying zone. The rising hot waste gas evaporates the moisture in the pellets. Then they enter the preheating zone where the pellets are further heated and the temperature gradually rises.
③Roasting: In the high-temperature roasting zone, the pellets undergo consolidation reactions under the high temperature generated by fuel combustion, making them have sufficient strength and metallurgical properties.
④Cooling: The roasted pellets enter the cooling zone. Through heat exchange with cooling air, the temperature of the pellets gradually decreases.
4.Finished product treatment: The cooled pellets are screened to remove unqualified pellets and powder to obtain finished pellet ore that meets the requirements. The finished pellet ore can be stored and transported for use by steel enterprises.
