Impact crushers are used in aggregate production, mining operations, and recycling applications. Unlike the compression or crushing action produced by jaw crushers and cone crushers, impact crushers break rock through rapid blows. This action has two main advantages: high crushing ratio and precise product shaping.

How an impact crusher works

Material enters the crushing chamber of the impact crusher along a controlled feed angle. A rotating rotor assembly strikes the stone with a predetermined force sufficient to cause fragmentation. The trajectory of the material is then controlled to divert the flow to the rotor ring, where the hammers (blow bars) continue to impact the material. Adjustable curtains or similar fixtures are used to adjust the retention of the material stream to obtain optimum output material characteristics. The impacted material stream then exits the crusher through the base.
